BANDAR BAHARU - Mayat kanak-kanak lelaki berusia setahun lebih berpakaian lengkap ditemui dalam beg pakaian berhampiran jalan susur masuk ke hentian tol Bandar Baharu di Kilometer 175 dari arah Utara, pada jam 5.45 petang, kelmarin.Ketua Polis Daerah Bandar Baharu, Deputi Superintendan Helmi Aris berkata, mayat kanak-kanakdipercayai berketurunan India itu ditinggalkan tidak sampai sehari kerana keadaannya masih lembut dan tidak berbau.
"Mayat itu disumbatkan dalam beg kanvas ditemui sekitar kawasan pasu bunga berdekatan tiang elektrik di plaza tol Bandar Baharu.
"Berdasarkan pemeriksaan awal, polis menemui kesan lebam di kepala mangsa, manakala hidungnya berair. Selain itu, tiada kesan atau tanda lain ditemui," katanya.
Menurutnya, kes itu akan siasat mengikut Seksyen 317 Kanun Keseksaan kerana menyembunyikan kematian kanak-kanak.
Beliau berkata, mayat itu dibawa ke Hospital Kulim untuk bedah siasat.
"Bagaimanapun, pihak hospital mengarahkan polis menghantar mayat mangsa ke Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah di Alor Setar untuk pemeriksaan doktor pakar. Sehingga kini, polis masih mencari keluarga mangsa," katanya.
Helmi turut meminta kerjasama orang ramai yang mempunyai maklumat tentang kejadian itu atau mereka kehilangan anak, supaya menghubungi bilik gerakan Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Bandar Baharu di talian 04-4077222.
